Why both Fusha and Lebanese?

Children meet two kinds of Arabic: the Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) of books and school, and the Arabic their family speaks at home. Often the words are the same. Sometimes they aren't.

قطّةModern Standard Arabic · qitta
بسّةLebanese Arabic · bisse

Our approach: letters in Fusha, words in both. The letters are the same everywhere, and seeing the home word next to the book word helps kids connect Arabic to real life. Transliteration on every page means parents who don't read Arabic can still help.

A 10-minute daily routine

  1. Say the letter's sound together.
  2. Trace its 4 shapes (beginning, middle, end, alone).
  3. Colour the picture and say the word in Fusha, then in Lebanese.
  4. Stop while it's still fun.
